Just when I thought all my testing was done I got a letter in the mail saying I was scheduled for a Gastric Emptying Test...it says I will eat a meal then images of my stomach wll be collected in 1,2 and 4 hours. It didn't tell me any more than that. Is this an xray of my stomach? Why do they do this test? Does everyone have this test?

Sounds like an abdominal sonogram... That's one of the Pre opt test required for me also. They basically measuring the stomach and food intake process..

Not a requirement for me though I have seen it mentioned once on You Tube by someone on the east coast.

I've seen patients have it, it's a nuclear medicine test where you eat something radioactive and then they image it going through. Do you have medical issues like diabetes? Sometimes they do it to check for gastroparesis. I haven't heard of people having to get it done before WLS.
