August Band Crew!!!!!

I am new to the boards and just got my date today - August 17! I am so excited! My surgeon is Dr. Allan Geiss in Syosset, NY. Looking forward to talking to everyone.

I'm nervious, excited, and having just the slightest bit of concern about feeling the port. But overall I can't wait to get healthy!!

If your surgery is in August too, come on in!

Booda,

Thanks for the advice!! I will call my doctor tomorrow to see if it's okay for me to do that also. I just hate missing work this week when I'm already off all of next week for the surgery! Thanks again! :)

Good luck to you all!

Be kind to yourself, let yourself heal. I went back to work yesterday and was pretty tired by the end of the day. But otherwise incisions are healing nicely. No gas pain. Post op doc appt tomorrow. Maybe I'll get to eat mushies without another week of full liquids!!!

You all will do great! I am proud to be a member of the August 2006 Band Crew!!!!!

Tim -

The link you gave for viewing the surgery was AMAZING! Thanks so much for the insight. I learned a LOT, it was just very lengthy!

Thanks again!

thanks Robin i wasnt sure if you had to basically start from scratch each time you lose weight lol

I'm back too. In a bit of pain but not unbearable. My biggest issue is that I had an allergic reaction to the morphine they gave me right after surgery. I've had a severe migraine and dry heaves. The dry heaves hurt like crazy!!! The only thing I've been able to eat or drink has been ice chips due to the nausea. The doctor said it should wear off soon. (I can't wait!!!) And I'm extremely tired!

Welcome back Libra! Glad you're back and I'm sorry you had a reaction. We're glad you're here!

I got my scale today and I'm down 11 pounds since surgery two weeks ago! YAY!

That video was great!! I know much more of what the actual surgery will be like which is awesome, knowledge is power! The whole thing made me remember why I havent eaten anything solid in 9 days! LOL :)

I had my post op appt today and i can go on mushies!!!!! whee!!!!!!!!!!

Doing great, no pain to speak of. Still get tired, am exhausted today after the trip into Boston. Am healing great per the doc. Next appt is 4 weeks to see if I want or need a fill and to put me officially on real food!

Good luck to everyone still be be banded in August!!!!

May we all heal quickly and safely.

I'm back too. Surgery went fine. My biggest complaint was the itching I got from the pain meds. Once that cleared up, I was in pain, but nothing too unbearable. But, tonight the gas pains and the grumbling tummy is really hurting! And not hungry tummy grumbles, but gas moving around grumbles. Took some Rolaids and it's helped some, but it's still there. My post incision is much larger than I thought it would be and is still draining a bit, so I have to keep an eye on it. If I can get even a halfway decent night's sleep tonight I should be doing much better tommorow. I got no sleep at the hospital and I'm exhausted!

Glad everyone's doing so well. :)

Glad you are back bug. Me too. Surgery went great. I agree the gas is the worst. I also have sore throat from the intubation. I have had popsicles, chicken soup (just the liquid part), Jello (that hurt a bit) and some tomato soup.

The Lortab made my stomach hurt so I am sticking to Motrin.

For all those who went ahead...When did your gas pains go away? When did you shower?

Anyway, I am so glad to be home and safe and starting my new life.

Did I mention I lost 14 lbs on the pre=op diet! Yahoo!

:clap2:

Natashiki, glad your's went well too! My doc said I could shower as soon as I got home, but I only have dissolvable stiches, no steri strips or regular staples. That probably makes a difference.

And I agree with the Loratab. It doesn't seem to be helping the pain much at all. I'm probaably going to call the doc tommorow and see if I can get something different. Per doc's orders I can't take Motrin, Advil, or Alleve for at least a couple months. Not sure why though.

Feel better soon!

Oh, and I lost 11 lbs on the pre-op diet. But, I weighed myself when got home today and have gained, are you ready for this? NINE POUNDS!! Can you say water weight?! Wonder what I'll be at once all this swelling and water bloat goes away. :phanvan

We got percocet which we cut in 4 pieces. It works like a charm and goes down in the quarter pieces fine. They make you loopy and ube sleepy though. But they were a miracle on the first 3 days then I took a half for sleep on the 4th night. Then just liquid tylenol.

Glad to see you all back!

I had the gas pains for about three days. I was allowed to shower the next day and I had steri strips on my incisions.
