Crazy Dreams??/

I have had the wildest, most vivid dreams ever since I had my surgery which was 7 days ago. For example...last night, I dreamt that this procedure was only available in Viet Nam. There was a group of us from the USA that flew over and had to cross from north to south or vice versus during the war in order to get the procedure done. There was a van that would transport us and the van driver was Ellen DeGeneres. That was about the time I woke up. So I was curious if anyone else has had totally crazy dreams?

LOL drys, that sounds like a pretty neat dream!!

Actually I did have some really strange dreams too right after surgery. I think it's a mixture of anesthesia and all the other drugs you're taking straight out of the hospital. Mine lasted a few weeks, along with bouts of insomnia and too much sleep. It's worked out though and I sleep perfectly fine.

I LOL'ed at your dream I had weird dreams too, that were very vivid right after surgery. But mine were all about food! I had dreams that I ate tacos and brownies and things, and in my dream I would eat really fast and then panic because I remembered I had surgery. I would wake up thinking I really ate all the stuff and it would take me a few mins to realize it was a dream. I would even wake up and my stomach would hurt. Im glad those are over with! Diva is right, it takes a while for all those drugs to get out of your system. I thought my dreams might have also been because I was so hungry, and I was sleeping deeper as I lost more weight and could breathe better.

I had a couple of really weird ones in the first week. My first night at the hospital, I had some dream about how my surgeon and the rest of his staff wheeled our beds into the basement and conducted some crazy ritual where they all spun us in our beds until we passed out - I'm pretty sure having read Rosemary's Baby only a few months before the surgery played a part in that one. Then when I got home, I had a super-creepy experience where I dreamt a burglar broke into my house and was standing over my bed....then I opened my eyes and he was THERE - it was an actual hallucination that lasted a good 3-4 seconds. I was SO scared. I stopped taking my bedtime painkiller after THAT night!

Great dream, that is really funny. I haven't been having so many since surgery, but when I was in recovery, I had dreams of plates full of food passing in front of me. Bacon and eggs, luscious looking sandwiches, etc. There was no feeling of "Wow I wish I could have that.", just "MMM, that looks good."

OMG, that one you had in the hospital is too funny, but the other one, I would have had a heart attack! HOW SCARY!

I had intense and consistent vivid dreaming for about a month post-op, then they tapered off to more normal dreaming. Some of my vivid dreams were awesome and some of them were nightmares. It's gotta be all the drugs -- general anesthesia, heparin, anti-nausea medication, pain killers and whatever else -- that take time to work their way out of the system.

Oh my, thanks for sharing your dreams everyone. Loved the one about Ellen being your driver and I agree I would have freaked out about the intruder!

I don't recall any special dreams post-op but ohhh my goodness did I have some whoppers PRE-surgery. The one that bothered me the most was where I dreamed that I was driving on the highway and kept fiddling with my rearview mirror since all I could see in it was my own face. Next thing I know I hear this horrible crash and realize that I've just been in an accident and then everything goes into super slo-mo and I can hear and feel the glass and metal breaking and crunching all around me and I know I'm seconds away from dying and all I can do is wait for the pain...then...thankfully, I woke up.

I thought that was an omen telling me not to go through with the surgery. But my niece helped me analyze it and she said that dying in your dreams isn't a bad thing...it can also signify shedding your past as you embarck on a new journey. I liked her interpretation a lot better than mine and don't regret my decision!

Can you remember, describe, other situations that you had thinking / use / see /experienced "Vans / transpotation / flying maybe", and that can possibly have any link / association with the surgery concept? Before the surgery? when you discussed your surgery, you whad an experience with VAns? / transpotation? About vietnam? a movie maybe? some google news maybe?

Can you remember what time you end your evening meal? and the time that you go for sleep?

Can you describe this in terms of calories? maybe and the size of food?
