Not As Good As I Thought I Was....

I thought I had been doing good other than some back pain i've had since surgery. Last night and all day so far I have had pain on my right side and it burns and hurts when I urinate. My personal physician and VSG surgeon have all left the office for the day. I went to a Convenient Care Clinic for help. Not only do I have a urinary tract infection but I am also severly dehydrated. The NP told me if she had IV fluids there she would have hooked me up. She prescribed me antibiotics and told me to really push the fluids (I thought I already was). If not better in a couple of days to call my VSG surgeon and may have to go for IV fluids.:( I'm constantly putting some type of liquid in my mouth (other than when I sleep) I just can't see how I can be dehydrated.

Sorry to hear about your ut, I'm glad you went to see a doctor. If you keep a daily fluid journal this could help with your your fluid intake or use containers that measure your fluid ounces this may help as well. I walk around the house with a 20 oz drinking bottle I fill it three times a day and I take it with me everywhere. I hope this helps and you feel better soon!

How much water/fluid are you intaking? Right now I am getting in just over 40oz a day of just water! Then add a little hot tea or hot cocoa and jello and pudding!! I just had a UTI right before surgery! UGH! Those HURT! Everyone told me to drink cranberry juice (which of course I hate! LOL) so give that a try! Good luck!!!!!!
