Hi, I'm new here, but am also from Indiana. I too am going to Team Bariatrics in Goshen, IN. I have four more months before my paperwork can be submitted for Insurance approval. This site has really been helpful in answering lot of questions that have come up in my search for info. and has helped me to feel that others are also going thru the same trials and need a helping hand from each other for support. I've been really pleased with the staff that I have worked with so far at Team Bariatrics, I've had my doctor consult and have worked with the Nurse Practioner, the Nutritionalist, the Exercise Trainer.

I feel I'm at the right place to pursue this. Good luck to each of you, and let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Take care.

YAYYYYYYYY

Well...I'm switching hospitals. I'm now going here in Merrillville to Broadway Methodist....I think it'll be better. I'm working on losing 12 more pounds before my insurance will even LOOK at my case. So...after i lose the last 12 pounds, the chick will start rolling with my paperwork! *fingers crossed*

Woot...Traci, I'm so happy for you chick!!

Kimmie!! That's where I am going. Everyone over has been just great so far!!! Are you working with Chris? Have you been to one of their seminars? Even though I already know what I want, the seminars are nice because you can put a face with a name.

Nope...maybe I should hit one of the seminars...

Yes, they are wonderful....from what I can tell via the phone! LOL I'm just trying to get this weight off so I can continue forward...if all goes "planned"....we might be getting banded around the same time!

Kim and everyone.....

good luck at the new hosptial. that is crazy that is so messed up. I hope it goes by fast for you....

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I had my surgery on May 30th. Today June 4th I feel great. Trying to drink plenty of water my mouth is pretty dry. I did fine. In a little pain but I had graduation this weekend for my niece and was pretty busy. Dr. McEwen did a great job. All the staff at the clinic where great they went and got me balloons for my birthday. They are a great bunch of people there.

Sandi and group,

I had my surgery on the 30th as planned, and have had a good weekend. mY pain is allot less today, and I was able to hold a small graduation party for my daughter yesterday. Went to bed at 830 last night, but I made it. The doctors and the nurses at the surgery center were just awesome...couldnt of asked for nicer people.

To date my weight loss is moving the scale....i am so excited to weigh myself in the mornings.

Thanks for checking in on us.....

Hello Everyone:

I'm from Merrillville, Indiana. If anyone out there has not yet committed to a hospital, and if you are thinking of Broadway Methodist, please contact me at cmacinga@dcgary.org and I want to share some information with you. If you have had your surgery at St. Margaret Mercy Hospital in Dyer, Indiana, definitely contact me. That's where I had mine on May 30. I am with the doctor who brought the lap-band surgery to Chicago and Northwest Indiana. If you want the very best care, and you are from my area, let's talk. I started out at 240 and am now at 210. I have lots to share of a very exceptionally perfect experience, no pain, none of the horror stories that one might read of those unfortunate to have encountered complications.

If anyone is also on the 6 weeks full liquids post-op, please let me know what your basic daily diet consists of. I know the cream soups are full of calories, so I'm on the protein shake, sugar free: pudding, jello, yogart and apple sauce.

Good luck to anyone out there who has not yet had surgery. It's the best decision you will make to save your life!:clap2:

Carol
