Hello all I am knew to this forum. I am schedule to have my banding on April 30th 07...I was wondering if there was anyone who had bandind at St Vincent Bariatric Center in Carmel Indiana? If so how are you coming along, who was your surgeon and what are the after effects thanks.

Hello Indiana people! I'm Jamie and I live in Crown Point, IN and was banded by Dr Stanish in Merrillville on Aug 22nd 2006 at Methodist Hosp. I'm glad to see an Indiana forum :)

Hey Jamie!!

It's so nice to see some local people who used Dr. Stanish! Make you feel like you are not so alone.

I wish I was scheduled to have it tomorrow!! :)

The waiting game....I know I just mailed in my papers last Tuesday. It's only been a week. But I am sooo ready to get going.

How's everyone else doing today?

Kimmie - have you heard anything yet about if you need the 6 month diet or not?? I have my 2nd appointment with the "diet" dr today, so if they come back and say that for me, I'll be ahead of the game.

Kandi5912 - you must be getting sooo excited!! 20 days to go! What's your preop diet look like? Jamie was telling me that Dr. Stanish has a 2 week liquid diet. Don't ask me why, but I can't wait for that! The weight that will drop off during it! Wooo Hooo!! (Jamie just shakes her head!)

H82BFAT - Did you reschedule your psych eval?? How are you feeling about things??

Jamie - Hi !!!!!

Hey Sandi, yes I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I am going this Thursday to get blood work, pulmonary function test, chest x-ray, upper GI, abdominal scan, and a EKG. I was told that it will take about 3 hrs...Then i go next Wednesday April 18th to a nutritionist class from 1-4:30 (yes 4 1/2 hrs)...Then I have a week of freedom to prepare for my surgery. As for the pre op diet, I have an option, I can do the liquid, protein and jello thing for 2dys or I can get this stuff that is prescribed by the Dr. the day before surgery...it is in powder form and I mix it with water drink it and be right next to a bathroom....they say it cleans you from head to toe!!!LOL I know the wait is something else. Mine took 1 month for approval then I had to wait on my dr to send my insurance a medical clearence letter (that was my hold up for about another month) now everything is in and everything is coming so rapidly....good luck with yours and I will make sure I keep you posted on what is taking place...good luck

And the wait will continue. I just got the word that I need a 6 month doctor supervised program to have it paid for by my Insurance company. The good news is that I'm 1 month into that, but it will be at least 5 months before I can have the surgery. At least the ball is rolling. Now I know.

Still....:cry :cry

Yes that is understandable, you no what I did was ediets.com and they keep a paper trail of your progress. They used that documentation as my weight loss. I know it takes time but wait until the papers are approved your time for surgery is going to come fast. My time after approval is flying, that is why I am nervous and excited at the same time. Good luck it will all work well and I will give you the detail info on my step by step.

Kimmie - have you heard anything yet about if you need the 6 month diet or not?? I have my 2nd appointment with the "diet" dr today, so if they come back and say that for me, I'll be ahead of the game.

Nope...the chick is supposed to submit all my paperwork today. If she doesn't call me by 3 to let me know what she's done, I'll be on the phone calling her! I'm anxious and want to see what needs to be done! I did find an old WW book that has about a year worth of weigh ins...who knows what that will do! I did go see my family doctor Monday, and he said he'll get me whatever I need to get the surgery...if I need documentation that I've been visiting him for 6 months...he'll do that...etc! Woot! I guess that's a good thing...now I just wait for this Yuko chick to get back to me!

Woot...well my paperwork was submitted to my insurance company on Monday...so now it's the wait and see period! FUN FUN!!! Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!!

My name is Traci and I am from The Martin county area, but actually live closer to the French Lick area. I just had my pshy visit(and passed) and surgeon visit, he feels like I am a good candiadate, and met with the dietician.

Waitin insurance approval..and mvig on.

I am having my surgery done in Fishers, In Dr. McEwen

Welcome!!! I vaguely know where the Fishers area is! That's awesome, sounds like you're on your way, just like the rest of us!! Woot!!

Helloto all. I too am in the learning process. My first consult is May 16 in Carmel IN. Can someone tell me how long it usually takes to get the ok? I have both my insurance and my husband's. I have a few medical problems due to my weight. All info will be apperciated. PS I live in Terre Haute is there anyone else out there?

I forgot to check this thread. I'm originally from the Terre Haute area and now live in Paoli. Sounds like there are a few here that are near me! I'm just starting the process for approval. Luckily when I can get all the tests and stuff done my insurance doesn't have a 6 month wait.

glad y'all are here...this is probably the scariest decision I've ever made!:faint:

hugs...cat
