what is going ON!!!

So I've been ranting about this for awhile now; I went on "high" calories (800) for awhile and thought I had found the sweet spot, losing a pound every two days like clockwork. Then I finally get in touch with my nut, tell her what I'm doing, only to have her tell me that I really should be at 600 or less like I was. She completely ignored the data in front of her, that I was barely losing a pound a week at 600 and at 800 was losing almost 4 pound a week. But, being the dutiful good girl that I am, I went back to 600. I IMMEDIATELY started to gain weight!! It has been 3 days of around 600 and I have GAINED a pound and a half. I take daily miralax so it's not a BM issue. WTF!!!!!!!! W!! T!! F!!

Now I just don't know what to do. I'm afraid that this is a backlash to my high calories a week ago and am gaining as a result, I just don't know what to do. My surgeon is MIA (in the colloquial sense, not militarily), my nut is not listening to me - HELP ME VST, YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE!!!!

  • I would say do what works for you. We are all different. Your nut has guidelines for the "majority" but if it works for you, I say go for it. We are talking about 200 calories here. 600 sounds ver

Keep you intake at 800, you feel better, you can think clearer, and it works in dropping pounds! So proud of you! Keep rokin that sleeve! ;)

UPDATE: It's well over a year since I started this thread, wow! I have remained a frustratingly slow loser and am now averaging barely 1-2 lbs per month, still hovering around 800 cals, still exercising 1-2 hours a day, 5 days a week. I am not to goal yet. The one thing I have never done in the year and a half since surgery is to go high calorie -1200- for a concerted period of time. I'm simply too afraid of what might happen.

I've been a frustratingly slow loser as well! I did try to go up to 1200 even 1400 calories for a period of about 3 weeks and nothing, I didn't lose anything! So I'm back to 800-1000. I did have my BMR (basal metabolic rate) done and it showed that I burn about 1400-1500 cals doing absolutely nothing. If it was simple calories in and calories out my BMR + my exercise + low calorie should work. And I do have to say that it did work for me in Jan (just last month 2012) I lost -7lbs in the whole month. I was pretty religious about logging my food, etc. and stayed within the 800-1000 range. I was shocked because I'm 15 months post-op and had spent pretty much from about 8 months-14 months stalled. Anyway, I'm going to keep the cals low and hope to get the last 20 off or so here in the next 6-8 months!

Good luck it's frustrating because what works for one person doesn't for the next etc. I think we just have to do what works best for us, but it sure is frustrating trying to figure it all out!

I would like to hear how you do! Please keep us all posted. I was advised to work on getting 90 min g. of protine and 100 min. oz of Water before switching to "solids". I am 6 days out.
