Well I've been sleeved for 11 days now and it doesn't even feel like it. My life was totally back to normal (running my 4 kids to their sports, graduations and karate testing) by day 5 oh and was at my daughter's graduation the day after the hospital Crazy I know Im so hungry I feel like I can eat my house. Im down 20 pounds and have followed the diet but due to my Dr going on vacation he had to see me only 1 week post op instead of 2 weeks and said I can already move onto mushy foods. I dont feel any different I feel I could woof down a hamburger the only thing stopping me if fear of pain. I am already swallowing all my pills and ready to start excersicing on Monday.

When I feel hungry, I'm like you...I feel like I could throw down a burger like it was nothing. But, when I sit down to eat, 2 bites and I'm stuffed.

The only time I really feel hungry is first thng in the morning, but even then I'm not sure it is hunger.

I make sure whenever I can to always have a drink around me - that helps quench thirst which can sometimes mask itself as hunger.

And the other thing - lucky you... I don't feel up to 100% yet, maybe 75%....but with the lack of calories and energy going in I really have to make an effort at the moment, I know it'll improve when the food stages change.

Yeah - full liquids for me from tomorrow!! Can't wait for it!!

I guess everyone is different, but I was told by my Dr. not to swallow any pills. I have to crush or have liquid meds for the first 6 weeks. You really should give your stomach more time to heal by not eating heavy or dense meats. Also you should not be drinking with your meals or for aat least 30min agter, so you dont wash your food through the sleeve. That may be why you are feeling so hungry.

I had a LOT of hunger from about 4-10 weeks or so... it was almost constant except for the first hour or so after I ate, and really, really uncomfortable. Staying off coffee helped, and so did taking an acid blocker.

Now at almost 5 months out, I can tell you that for me, the frequency and intensity of hunger has subsided HUGELY... once in awhile I get a feeling of hunger, but it's very mild and easily ignored or washed away with something to drink. Mostly I just get a feeling like I need to eat something, but it's not exactly hunger and isn't uncomfortable. And, I'm back to having a cup or two of coffee in the morning and not taking the acid blocker (although I DO find myself grazing more, not sure if it's related or not but it might be)... so the point of this rambling is that at least for me, that intense hunger did go away after a few weeks, so hang in there and see if a PPI helps at all. :bored0:

I wish I was at 100% too. I think I am around 75% as well. I still get tired quickly and don't have the energy to do much but i did go for a long walk this morning after sleeping for the first night since surgery 10 days ago and I think that helped a lot. I do feel hunger, especially in the mornings but I remember a lot of people saying a PPI seemed to help the hungry all the time feeling.

You are going like gangbusters .. part of me is envious but part of me wants to tell you to take it easy. You are still healing and will be for the few weeks ahead and the last thing you need is a tear, leak or any complications from over-doing it. I can assure you if you tried that hamburger, you wouldn't make it past the 2nd bite. Stick with the mushies or whatever plan your doctor told you to follow.

I never had any pain either and I joked with my surgeon to ask if he actually did anything. But, I am not pushing it (I can't) .. I have such little energy from the little food that I do eat. I am eating probably between 600-800 calories a day and that is about as far as I can go.

The pills thing .. are you taking pill-form Vitamins? I don't know about the other sleevers but my surgeon advised that anything pill form is a thing of the past. I am to only take liquid or chewable vitamins or even pain medication. Apparently the sleeve is not fond of pills due to the digestive process that could breakdown the pouch. Please check into this!

The first month is HELL...you will feel like you are starving..because you are recovering from major surgery without any real food to get you back on track.Once you start eating soft solids you will feel better...but not completely. It will take until you are really getting solids in there and all your protein and liquids for a long time to feel completely great. THen you will love your sleeve.

It took me three weeks to feel normal and somewhat not starving. your sleeve is fine and you will experience not having appetite.But right now your body is weak and wants food...just get through this phase and then you'll feel fabulous. It's weird to have the first month be the worst.Even worse than pre surgery diet..but once you're through youll do great. Hang in there.Seaview

Pills~ I take daily meds and I was crushing them because I didn't think I would ever be able to swallow pills again but at my post Op appointment the Dr. said if they are not bigger than a dime they were fine to swallow. I do take chewable Vitamins. No pain meds havent needed any of that since day 5.

I'd like to know how you guys know you are full. I was almost able to eat an entire can of cream Soup today (Dr. okayed) and was shocked not to feel bloated uncomfortable or really even full.

I am able to drink all my Protein with no problem and 60oz of Water a day. I never eat and drink at the same time. I am still drinking Isopure because I hate all those other nasty Protein drinks THAT I HAVE SPENT SOME MUCH MONEY ON

I know some of you think Im doing too much but thats just me Im a go getter I like to be in control LIke to take care of myself and my 4 kids. My hubby had to go back to work 2 days after I got out of the hospital so I really didn't have a choice. I think getting up and going has helped me heal faster and lose as much weight as I have already. I was cleared to start water fitness starting Monday and I cant wait to get back to the gym!!!

I was told I was never allowed to take any pills again if they were larger than a pencil eraser. Yours is a dime. If I had that advice, I would go back on my pill form of Vitamins .. the chewables and liquids are not that fantastic. Same with Protein powders - I've spent a lot as well and I am so sick of them. I do find other protein options and hit the 60-70 gram per day with ease.

Well, you have the drive to go, get things done and exercise. Like I said, I am envious of that energy and while I am a 'get it done' kind of person as well, I simply had no energy post-op. It was very frustrating for me but it's getting better now.

I get full VERY easily .. no more than 2/3c per meal no matter what it is. I am most comfortable with a 1/2c and I do eat 5-6 times per day. The liquids and soft foods are what most sleeve people tolerate the best so I am not surprised with how much soup you were able to eat. It will probably change once you start eating more solids.
