Surprise! Sugar Addiction!

I am scheduled for a Monday session with Aceves and looking forward to it. Here's an unexpected, er, bonus, that I am experiencing; started the pre-op on Monday the 18th - Aceves requires an Atkins-like pre-op - no carbs. Ok, fine. Done this before, piece of cake. Would much rather do lo carb than liquid for any time frame. Well, my smugness is getting smacked down for sure - today is day four of almost pure Protein and holy cow have I been feeling screwy! Slightly nauseous, ridiculous come-and-go headaches, cold sweats, ridiculous. Starting to worry a little, I looked up lo carb symptoms and Lo and Behold! I am 100% experiencing sugar withdrawals!!! Who woulda thunk? I'm holding strong, however, as I would rather get this business over before surgery rather than during or after. Strangely, I'm not really craving carbs though. Just thought I'd share. Anyone else been there done that?

I've definitely had the headaches with sugar withdrawal. Tylenol may help with it, but it didn't help me much. Just keep plugging along. You are almost there!

I don't have to start the full pre-op diet for another week, but I have started going all protein with the exception of fruit. I am hoping allowing myself the fructose and tapering down the glucose will help since I am a huge carb and suger eater. So far, so good... :-/
