1 week post op question

Im 1 week post op now and overall feel pretty good. The only problem im having and maybe its normal is my stool in very watery (brown) and lots of noise from my stomach, steady and loud. I read where a couple of you had the opposite problem being constapated. Is this normal what I have? Im still on the clear liquids maybe thats it?

Perfectly normal. I had a lot of watery bm's while on the clear and even the full liquid stage of the post-op diet. I didn't deal with constipation until I hit the soft solid/solid stage of the diet.

Liquid in, liquid out for now. Just keep sipping so you stay hydrated.

ok I was kinda wondering if its all this liquid...... so the constipation comes later eh  lol

Yep, normal. Once you start on more solid food, you might want to take some miralax or similar product on a regular basis to prevent constipation. It can get pretty uncomfortable. Keeping things moving along also helps prevent "constipation stalls" in my opinion. One day I "dumped" four times and lost three pounds overnight!

Hi bigdd, are you from Canada? Detected the accent (eh). . . hehehe. . .apparently yes diarrhea is a normal thing with this surgery. . . and like Tiffy said, liquid in, liquid out. . . that is a really good way to describe it. .

Yes im from British Columbia Canada.....I was in your fair city just a few days ago....Was a nice change in weather for me :scared0:

I talked to the contact LPN and she suggested taking benefibre every day to help with the clumping and so far it is working. Before the BM's weren't steady, you went normal but it was straight liquid.

Constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating...all normal for me until 3 mos out. I still can go days w/o a BM, which is fine with me.

Yes, San Antonio is a beautiful city and the temp is perfect year round. . . I'm originally from winnipeg, have lived here in SA for the past 15 years though. . . would never go back, too cold for my artherititis. . . glad you enjoyed your time here. . .

HI BIGDD

i FINALLY GOT MY SLEEVE YESTERDAY. EVERYTHING IS GOING GREAT. READY TO HEAD OUT TOMORROW. STILL PRETTY SORE AND WONDERING HOW TO GET SO MUCH FLUIDS IN BUT I AM GOING TO DO MY BEST.

DR ALVAREZ REMEMBERED YOU - HE SAID THA WAS EXCELLENT WORK.

I only had one bout of constipation, and it's because I ate a bunch of cheese one day.

I am only 1 week out. I just had my first bowel movement this morning.

It was very firm/hard. It took a while but everything came out ok (pun intended) LOL. I was worried about being constipated. I don't get much noice from my tummy. I was pretty "windy" the first week though.

Everything is GREAT, I've not had one problem at all. I've tried some things here and there, especially this week. Peanuts (chewed to mush)

pureed porks chops in gravy (only ate an oz) very good. I've had a couple bites of refried Beans & mashed potatoes. All went down well.

Im just wondering Judy. Did you have the sleeve? Are you supposed to be eating already? I had to go on 1 week of clear fluids 2 weeks of full fluids

1 week of soft food then other food........no nuts for a couple months. If you had the "sleeve" im amazed at the differance in post op diets:ohmy:

I just got home yesterday. Surgery was done on Mon, Dec.7th. I have been dealing with a lot of "noise" from my stomach, and you guys are defenitely right..liquid in, liquid out, LOL. I am shocked that Judy is on soft foods only 1 week out? My dr. just told me yesterday to do 3 weeks of clears?

I would LOVE to do two weeks of clears, and a week of full liquid(xmas is coming up).
