Diuretics

G'mornin' everyone

I've been taking a diuretic for probably a year. I'm going to take it up until the night before my surgery.

I'm worried that if I don't take it the following night after my surgery I'll start to swell up like a whale.

However, I'm wondering if I will need it. Will the surgery make my inclination to retain Water go away?

talk to your doctor about this and the reason you take it......he/she would be the best judge. I personally did not retain water......but gained ove 50 lbs of water weight once and was out begging for a diuretic on street corners!!!!!! So I know your fear!

Ok..I really think that my diuretic has nothing to do with my stomach. I'll have to try and take my pill the night after I have surgery!

That should be fun...

Check with the pharmacist and see if they you can crush your pill. If so, then you can mix it with a little Water and take it ...I doubt you'll be allowed to drink anything by mouth until the day after your surgery though.

If you talk to your surgeon, it's possible they can give you something in your IV for swelling.

I didn't have any problems, but then again, I only tend to swell if there's been too much sodium in my food.
