Vitamin D

Many do not realize how important this Vitamin is. There is an interesting bit of history on Vit D, it's not really a vitamin but a hormone.

For more information check it out:

Vitamin D Council | Understanding Vitamin D Cholecalciferol

If you want to check your own Vit D levels you can do it yourself at home. The Vitamin D Council was formed to educate people on the necessity of watching your D levels:

ZRT - ZRT Products

It is very simple to do, they send you a kit. You poke your finger and bleed on special paper. Let it air dry, fill out a form, put it all in an addressed envelope provided in the kit and drop it in the mail. In 10-14 days you are able to view the lab results on line and they also send you the results by mail.

It should be noted that a strong craving for sweets can potentially be a symptom of Vit D deficiency.

Many studies show that obese people are severely lacking in Vit D. As we lose weight it often times becomes worse.

Many doctors still go by what used to be thought of as normal blood values of 20-50. This is no longer accurate information. We should shoot for lab values of 50-80.

I did this and realized I was severely deficient in Vit D. I started supplementing and deep bone pain is gone as well as my craving for sweets.

I sent them an email from their contact us link on the web site. Didn't you say that you can get your results online? I put my order # in my email. Was there something else I was supposed to do to get my results?

I wasn't sure if I was supposed to wait for them to contact me or what I was supposed to do.

thanks!

I'd call them and ask them to set you up with a password and method to check your results on line. It's just faster that way. I can't remember if you have seen the on line version of results or not, if you want to see mine I'll call you with the password. You can see what it looks like and all the info they give you.

[QUOTE=WASaBubbleButt;5005]Ahhhh, but I didn't tell you all the other stuff I ate! I was sooooo angry!

The whole entire weekend was like that, one piece of stupidity or frustration after another. I couldn't decide if I wanted to run or eat so I did both. ;o)

WASa,

OMG woman, we must be twins! I can not believe the similarities of your weekend with my life and the stupid mistakes that people at my work make which cause me to run around putting out fires all day!

Last night after re-reading your post about getting back on track and being straight about the hard road it is to be fat and how we have to change our habits and yes, exercise--I dreamed about running on a treadmill trying to reach a bagel. Woke up at 4am to the dang alarm and went to the gym to do cardio and was so pissed about it(exercise not the bagel dream)! :scared0: I was mad half my day-not at all the stupid mistakes that my workers had made but because I am sick of being Fat and damn mad that I haven't been able to just pay for the surgery and schedule it and that I will have to exercise daily cause diabetes insulin resistence is going to ruin my life if I don't. So I went to the gym, avoided white carbs today, hungry as hell because I crave them so bad, and now will have to do it again tomorrow. Tom, my trainer, had the audacity to call me today and tell me that he enjoyed your post as well and that he wanted to see me tomorrow and that he wanted me to be happy about it rather than pissed. I told him to watch out because he is treading on thin ice around a big mad fat chick dealing with carb withdrawal.:scared0: Anyway, thank you, sister!

I looked at the ZRT website for a phone # and didn't see one. Can you pm me the phone # so I can call them and ask them to set me up?

I think I love you. ;o) Someone understands me! I think I am in heaven!

Carb withdrawal sucks donkey peeters. No way around it. It just does.

Dang... and I was trying to use "make nice" words. ;o)

Wassa you crack me up too, but I love it. I dont have those nursing errors to contend with anymore but I do have to contend with demolition workers trying to knock down building with the gas line connected and trying to blow up several city blocks in south Los Angeles. I hate when I get calls like that on a Saturday. Stupid men! Anyway. I can relate to all of it. The treadmill screaming as well. Stupid treadmill. What to do? I guess I should quit complaining, get an attitude of gratitude and keep on truckin. HAVE A GREAT DAY and ignore the assholes

  • 1 month later...

Wasa,

Thanks for this link. Very interesting. My internist checked my D3 level a few months ago and I was deficient, level 28. I am feeling much better after starting 5,000 units/day. I had a few qualms about taking so much of a fat soluble vit, but looks like all the literature I've reviewed supports this route.

Wasa,

You crack me up! I can just picture you on a treadmill with a hot buttery bagel...

New week.... New start. You'll do fine!

WASA, look at the bright side. You could have been eating pie in the recliner. The inclination to run would have never been on my radar. Glad to hear you are back on track and hope next week the idiot gods pass you by.
