Going for my first consult tomorrow!

Hi everyone! I am 53 years old and have also struggled with weight up and down all my life. However at this point in my life it's always on the up side. I go tomorrow for my first consult but I am feeling so unsure. I have read lots of good on the band but as you all know there's always the band too. I'm hoping the bad stories are few and far. Any encouragement will be greatly appreciated.

My life has improved no end since my band.. I'm 37 and was trim until my late 20's... I've lost over 60llb since july 3rd when I was banded. It is much harder than I thought. Until my second fill I was starving. But if you apply yourself it's an amazing tool...

Thanks for replying did surgery go well for you? Was there much difficulty with the healing process?

Yes surgery was fine.. I went home after about eight hours and went shopping with my mum. I did have alot of left shoulder pain for about 24h. There was some bruising on my tummy but I do bruise very easily.. I think the pre op diet helped. I did 3 weeks rather than 1. That made insertion of my band easier..

The best thing I have done for myself! I had lost 176 prior to surgery, but I wanted to lose more and maintain. I just felt this was the tool I needed. It just makes me really aware of every bite I take. For nearly 3 years now I have written down every bite, lick or taste I have taken. If you bite it write it! But the band makes it so I am limited and really need to think about what goes in my mouth. My insurance paid all but 2 $20. co-pays! They also did not require me to go through months of pre banding appointments like most insurance companies do. My surgeon required 4 appointments before I saw the surgeon but that was it! If I were ask if I'd do it again I'd say in a heartbeat! Good luck
