Pre-Op Diet and Surgery

Recommended Posts

I had my Pre-Op appointment today and I've lost 11 pounds in a week! I have surgery in 6 days and sat down the with attending nurse today and she was super sweet. I wasn't prepared for the long 2 hour visit though. The only thing I'm a little uneasy about is after I had my blood work done they also checked my pressure and it was really high. I've never had high blood pressure before but the nurse seemed worried and it worried me. In the end it was a good visit and I have everything set for Monday. My surgery is at 07:30am. I do have one question for you all though, how were you when you woke up from surgery? My mom has issues with waking up, she usually stays a day or so after surgeries because she takes it hard. I know everyone is different I just hope I don't have any issues. In the end this is all just me venting because I'm nervous. I'm excited and happy for myself and everyone else being banded in the next couple months! :D

congrats on the weight loss! I was really stressed about the surgery and getting put under as well because I never have before. When I woke up I was really nauseous and in pain. They gave me some anti nausea meds and morphine and felt a little better. My surgery was scheduled for 11 and I was in the recovery room at 1 for about an hour. i was pretty out of it until about 8 that night. I don't know if I answered any of your questions but that was my experience... lol

Good luck! You'll do great!

No it does help!!! :D I just wanted a general idea of what I would be feeling like once I woke up and just to know that it is normal to feel anxiety about the surgery! Thanks! :D

I'm here to attest to the fact I was fearful all the way being wheeled into the OR. I've had many surgeries and as my doctor put it the scars I have look like the road map of Europe . Every time I have had surgery I have had that fear but came out of it fine everytime.

I think it's normal to be a little anxious before any type of surgical procedure. My doctor requires an overnight stay for all his patients having Lapband surgery in case of any complications. If I was having the sleeve he would require a 3 day stay and 4 days for bypass surgery. He's pretty thorough.

When I had my port revised because it flipped I was released early evening. I went in the OR at 7:30 was in recovery by 9 and released at 4 PM.

I still had that fear going into the OR but was given an injectable sedative to relax before being operated on. Thank God everything turned out OK. Best wishes to you!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
