Surgery June 11th!!

I've been struggling with my weight for my whole life but, five years ago my dad passed away when I was 15 and my weight has reached it's highest. When i was

17 I started the process of getting the band , but my insurance stopped when I turned 18 and I wasn't unable to finish the process. So 2 years later, I simply asked my grandparents could they pay for me to get the lap band, and with no hesitation they said yes. I went for a consultation and set my surgery.

I'm super excited about being banded in less than

a week.I'm on a 14 day liquid diet the first week was so hard. I wasn't used to the taste of the Protein shakes and had to really get used to it.

Now that I've got used to the taste, it has been much easier. I lost 10 pounds in 5 days and that definitely has given me a push to realize

that the hard work has been paying off. I read a lot of posts on here daily and it has surely been a motivation. Therefore, I will be tracking my

journey on here and sharing my experiences with the lap band.

Gas pains are down. Regular pains are normal. I have been eating jello and drinking Gatorade to help with taking pain meds otherwise I'm not hungry. Thanks Kanna for asking. Lets see I had to take an Emend pill for nausea before surgery (pill cost $56$) for 1 pill!, 2 nausea drugs in my IV, motion sickness patch behind my ear, Reletex band on my arm that lasts for 3 days, and prescription of Ondestron. Got nauseated before leaving hospital. But just a tad after that. Got liquid Loratab. Gasx. What was your day like? Hope you are well. Where is KBush, marieh, and sprinkles?!??!? Y'all alright?!?!

Hey lady, I'm doing great! How are you doing? Did your doctor give you a card to carry , it's an emergency card to let people know you have a band.

No card to carry. I'm ok. I think I'm drinking too much..I take sips but have been able to drink about 4oz of broth slowly. No weight loss yet...you?

I'm doing well girl friend! Feel way better than yesterday. Just some gas pain and pressure in chest. Thank god I was not feeling like I wanted to grow up but yesterday when I woke up I wanted someone to kill me the pain was unbearable. Today I showered exfoliated my face brushed my teeth like a champ and have been doing a lot of walking. Having had protein yet but drinking water and broth and jello... I can't wait till we all pick out our sexy Halloween costumes!!!

Band date was July 11. I know how unfelt and how I feel now. Best of luck to u

Hey all!!! I went at 830 with surgery at 1130....got home around 3...and I feel like a Mack truck ran me over! Gas pains and hurting pains....I got pain meds..oh also got nauseated when I was leaving the hospital!!! I'm going to lay down. Otherwise...IM BANDED!!!!!! Yay!!!

LOL that is exactly how I felt after being banded (like a Mack truck had run over me!) Fortunately for me however my doctor insists his patients stay overnight in case of complications. He did give me Demerol shots while in the hospital and a prescription for Lortab. The hospital has a liaison from the Walgreens nearby and they fill the prescription for you before you're discharged. So they gave me a Demerol shot before leaving the hospital and a filled prescription for the Lortab. My doctor makes sure his patients prescriptions are filled before they leave the hospital. He believes no one should suffer in pain. After a few days I felt good enough to start doing everything normal. Truthfully however, it took a good two weeks before all the pain and gas went away.

I promise, it does get better. Good luck to you!
