Eating time frame

Hi all,

Will you give me a time estimate of when you went from liquid to mushies to solid food post-op? I am trying to figure out timing of surgery (5/2?) and vacation (6/9).

Thanks!

Are there things to do before surgery to shorten the liquid stage?

I have surgery 5/7 and vacation 6/15- it will be tough on vacation-but it will be worth it!

I so excited to have the band, but nervous because I don't wAnt to have liquid all of vacation!

I understand- I love to cook an I am the ook for our vacation- hoping I will be able to resist.

All depends upon your Dr...although, I have to say for myself, the mushie stage was not that bad....and I was able to eat out and come up with things off a menu...just had to be creative sometimes......

I went from clear liquids to heavy liquids (shakes, cream soups) to mushies to solids...all in 4 weeks from surgery, then got my first fill at 4 weeks.....

But you will see that all Dr.'s have different protocols....

Ok. Thanks! I'm feeling a little better!

My doctor had me on full liquids for 2 weeks after surgery, now pureed food for 2 weeks then 2 weeks of soft food, so at 6 weeks post op I'm allowed to introduce regular foods back into my diet

I'm scheduled to move to "regular band food" 1 month after surgery. Every doctor and nutritionist is different, but I bet you will be very close to a regular diet by the time your vacation rolls around. Definitely inform your nutritionist of your vacation plans and see what he/she says. Keep us posted!!
