  • Congrats! I was banded on Monday. Each day DOES get better. The heating pad works for the shoulder or back pain. I too, am trying to take as little pain med as possible. It WILL constipate you.

  • I'm trying to stay away from pain killers because in the past i had renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) and I had my right kidney removed so painkillers and any unnecessary pills/meds are a no no..

I was banded Tuesday ,had a hernia repair also....I stayed that night in the hospital cause the pain was sooooo severe in my chest,I really thought I was having a heart issues. I am home now day 5 post op and finally the pain in my shoulder as subsided ,the gas pain is a little better,I have been trying to walk but just get too tired. I never thought I would have his much pain! I feel like I need to burp its hard to take a deep breath cause I feel so much pain......just want to feel better!

Is it weird that I don't know where my port is or even what size band I have. My surgeon never came to see me after.

I just caved in and took the liquid Vicodin.. I took 1/2 the dose!

I didn't get to see my doctor either cause we had a blizzard and it was extremely insane in there.. But my doctor just called me an hour ago and explained everything.

Yes! Gas pain was the worst. Try ice and ibuprophen if your doc allowed it. My doc told me to walk 10 minutes every hour I was awake to move the gas, and it helped. I was also sore around my incisions for about a month. I was banded in May, and have no regrets, though!
