Hello My name is Brandie, I just got the surgery on October 11, 2012. I am so happy with my choice of getting it done as i have struggled for the last 15 years with my weight and finally had had enough and went on to discover the option of getting the lap band. Tricare at first last year said no to paying for it, but after a year I had a LOT of health problems come up and it was enough for Tricare to decided to pay for it.

Tricare is the military insurance that we carry and its hard to get approved for the surgery as not only do you have to be at least 200 % over your suggested weight, but you also have to have 1-2 of the following condition's - High BP, arthritis in hips, Sever Back problems, Sleep apnea or heart conditions. When all said and done I had all but the arthritis.

I also had Tri-Care and it took a year to get everthing done. I went on the 6 months nutrition classes and lost enough weight that they said i was not heavy enough. After gaining back some of the weight they approved me. Good luck with your band and stay on this forum it has been a great asset to me. hugs:)
