I Hope I'm Ok..

Recommended Posts

So yesterday made 2wks I have had my surgery (surgery date 8/28/12) and on my doctor's appointment last week. He told me I still need to be on liquids, then 2wks after that, I need to be on soft/smuchy foods for 3wks then I get my first fill...

Well yesterday was my sister's bday & we went out to dinner.. there was no Soup on the menu! So I ordered food :-(

I chewed!! So much! I was doing my best to be careful!

Overall I ate like a pig lastnight :-(

I'm not suppose to but I did... I feel fine but I hope I'm ok...

wow, way too soon to be eating solid food. Your stomach needs time to heal which is why you were provided the dietary guidelines.

Don't feel sad and guilty. Today is a new day. Be strong and stick with the plan laid out by the Doctor. You're at a stage now where you are healing so it's important to let that happen. Try and plan your activities around the various diet stages. I know its easier said then done but your health is worth it.

If it were me I would passed on going out to dinner. Flip side to that is you need to give a reason why and if you don't want people to know then you have a problem. Considering it is your Sister I would assume she knows you are banded. I am betting she would have understood your situation with a little explanation.

Stick with it though. It is worth it!! Good Luck!!

If I were you I would call my doctor and tell them what happened, just in case. Otherwise, it's over today is a new day, time to get back on the horse. We all make mistakes. You will be fine. Take care.

Jim,

I actually was going to pass up on going out to dinner but this was the first time in a long time we were all going to be together out as a family having dinner for my sister's birthday.

So I was planning on having soup.. but that wasn't the case... So I ordered a meal but did NOT finish my plate.. I chew a few bites and took the rest home to my boyfriend. Gave him the leftovers.

Saying no to family is not easy and often is not an option. If that happened again take a premade Protein Shake with you that way if there isn't any band friendly food you have something. Just an idea.

Omg! How depressing can this be!! Out of curiousity. I decided to weight myself & I gained 1.9lbs!

I actually gained weight because I went out to eat with my family & I didn't even eat much at all. I'm so disappointed in myself!

Relax cpvillacis, you'll probably find most of that is Fluid retention also. We are bound to make mistakes, just get back on track asap, I only had to do liquids one week, mushies 2nd week and started solids on my third week. As you've worked out there are very different instructions by each surgeon. I doubt you've done any harm, just try and plan it better next time so you don't fall into the same trap.

So get back in track and stick to it and be a good girl, lol easier said than done sometimes but it does get easier as the weeks go by.

Get back up on the band wagon.

You made a mistake. You owned it. You learn from it. It's time to move on.

For future reference

I have a neat app on my phone that list 100's of restaurants and their menus & nutritional values, or you can go online and scout a menu. No what they have before you go.

Good luck! I believe in you!

That App sounds good. Would you mind sharing the name of it?

It's called Fast food Nutrition. I got it free from Amazon apps. It has a lot of fast food, but also has places like Chilis, Panera and such.

You can also go to Fastfood.com

Any of the big chain restaurants just go to their website.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
