  • I saw some pix once showing the size we should really be eating and it was about the size of a pea. Every single bite. Are yours that small? Maybe your fill was too tight? I second the suggestion

I think I know what you're describing. It feels like it's a lump at the very bottom of your throat?

Your profile is blank. When were you banded? Have you had any fills, if so, how recently?

Is it a specific food getting stuck, or just everything in general?

It's possible that you need to take smaller bites of food, chew more thoroughly, and/or pause between bites. I know after my last fill in May I thought I was taking small enough bites but it turned out I wasn't. I started taking even tinier ones and I've been fine ever since.

Might be worth a try,

I would talk to your surgeon when see him next week, just to be on the safe side,

I second the suggestion to talk to your surgeon. I would think using the water to wash it down feels right but I thought we weren't supposed to mix the two as much as possible so there's got to be some other way to get it down. I'm sorry you're going through this!!

Sounds like you're now chewing your food up until it's liquid consistency. I know for me things only get stuck with I gulp.

i am getting this aswell and i feel even though i have the same restriction the band feels like its letting more food get down than it did 3 month ago? i am going to get an x ray done to make sure all is ok my surgeon thinks i am eating to quick, where as b4 if i was eating to quick it would come bk up but now it sits there in my thtoat and gets down eventally?

From what I've learned....Papaya Tablets help with getting that stuck feeling out of your throat

My food gets stuck in my throat too, so I started taking smaller bites. I've had my second fill but can still eat alot. I don't even feel like I have a band, I've lost weight because I stick to protein vegetables and fruit and no more then 1200 calories or I would have never lost weight. I'm losing hope, I want to feel that restriction!!!

Ouch. If that happens every single time you eat, I'm wondering if you are too full? How much fluid is in your band and what size band do you have? This is gross but as I am chewing I liquify the food in my mouth.. That may help you. Pineapple juice worked for me when I got food stuck.
