Cottage cheese is a very textured mushie, maybe try thin mashed potatoes or yogurt first. Also make sure your taking small bites and waiting between bites

I did not start cottage cheese/mushies until day 15. Day 5 I was still on clear liquids . Day 8 I moved to full liquids until day 14. I realize you may be following your doctors orders but you personal biology just may require a slower food progression.

Is cottage cheese the only thing that you've tried? If so, try a nondairy mushie like applesauce or puréed veggies. I personally seemed to react not so good to dairy early on but I was fine with other things and I started mushies day 6.
