Pain Meds

The liquid pain medicine my doctor prescribed was not helping at all.....he called a new prescription in, but it's a pill and I am suppose to crush it.....it's only the size of a regular aspirin and I just swallowed it.....have I messed up? I don't feel it stuck or anything, just wondering if it is and I don't know it.

You're fine. If it were stuck, you'd know it, believe me. You'd feel a severe tightness and likely pain, possibly even vomit. I take small pills all the time without issue.

I take pills too and have since day 2 of post op. My doctor said anything larger then an m&m to cut in half. I haven't gotten a pill stuck yet and I am 3 weeks post op and now swallow them whole. Sometimes two at a time if I am in a hurry.

NO SWEETIE, YOU ARE FINE...IF IT WAS THE SIZE OF ASPIRIN, YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT...JUST CONTINUE WITH YOUR LIQUIDS AND CRUSH IT UP THE NEXT DOSE....HANG IN THERE, IT IS A WONDERFUL JOURNEY...

Banded at 7am on tuesday March 27th. Quite abit of pain the first post op day,but I have'nt taken any of the liquid vicodin since mid day on wed. Plain liquid tylenol seems to working just fine, and don't need that very much. I have a great fear of narcotics causing constipation, and don't want to have to deal with that..... My surgeon instructed me that I should NOT attempt to swallow any pills untill he tells me it's OK. I'm on a couple of routine Rx meds, and I'm dissolving both of those in water........

Manybeards - good, follow your surgeon's advice! As for the OP, as mentioned you would certain know if you were stuck (I have been stuck on a pill before....yuck that was awful coming back up!). I would say crush them up though until you're onto at least your mushy food stage.
