I think you can take it and never did hear anything that you can't. I have been taking it since my surgery back in 2009 with no issues. But, to be on the safe side, always ask your doctor.

My surgeon was well aware that I take the Costco generic for Zyrtec, and did not say anything about it. I was just told no meds other than thyroid the morning of surgery.
