Birth Control Pills

I was reading a bariatric manual that was posted on here (with GREAT information), and I came across one of the things you have to stop before surgery. It stated no Estrogen for 2 weeks prior and use other birth control methods. Has anyone actually experienced this (your surgeon told you to stop taking birth control pills) prior to the LapBand surgery? If so, what about after the surgery, how long before you can start back taking birth control pills? Thanks so much for any information!

My nurse told me to stop my BC 2 weeks before the surgery and to stay off it at least one month after surgery to avoid blood clots.

I use Nuvaring, and my surgeon never told me to stop using it. I never had a problem, but every doctor is different.

Thanks everyone. I saw my OBGYN today and he did give me a chewable BC pill (Generess Fe), so I will ask my surgeon on the 19th about that.
