One Week Post Op

Hi, I got banded last week Wednesday and am currently on liquids. I will see my surgeon, Dr, Ramiro Cavazos from San Antonio on Thursday. Has anyone replaced two meals with protein shakes and is that even a good idea? Please help.

I don't understand your question. Are you to be on clears and you want to add Protein Shakes? Unfortunately, I'd say not, if your surgeon ordered clears, then clears it is. If he said liquids, then anything that will go through a straw (don't use a straw, but that consistency). If you don't understand his orders, give a call to the office and check.

If you are on clears and starving. Call and ask if you can advance. My surgeon let me move to full liquid several days early because I was healing very well.

Don't advance your diet without permission.

I agree follow follow exactly what the doctor suggests, it is tough but do able. Your band right now is healing and trying to work for you.. If you rush something, it may lead to the band not working exactly the way you wished it too..hang in there...Then when they say protien shakes I would say start with one, or half of one.. good luck!!
