Pain: Lap Band Surgery Vs C-section??

I know everyone's experiences are different, but I'm curious as to how people that have had cesarean sections would rate their post op pain? I have had two c-sections and recovered like it was a piece of cake. By one week post-op, I was back to normal and pain free. I only took my pain meds for a few days. Certainly it was not a pain free experience, but I tolerated it easily. I get that the surgeries are completely different, but I'm crossing my fingers that this surgery will be as tolerable as those were. I would guess that I have a high tolerance for pain. I'm guessing that plays a huge part in people's differing experiences. So I am curious, those of you that had both surgeries: what were your experiences like and how were they in relation to each other? Did your c-sections cause you immense pain, or were they easier to recover from? How were they in relation to your experience with the lap band surgery? (does that make sense?)

  • Hi there! I too had a c-section and recovered quickly with minimal pain medication - and I do not have a high pain tolerance . The shoulder pain I experienced the first 3-4 days was horrible. I had

I have had 2 C sections.....the Lap Band procedure for me was nothing compared. I was shopping the next day and hit the road for a conference 4 days later.

I too have had two c-sections and with the Lap Band I was out Christmas shopping the day after I came home from my overnight hospital stay.

My c-sections were a dream compared to this. I had my band done on the 27th - I am still using pain meds every 4-5 hours. I only used tylenol with c-section. I am awake maybe an hour, take pain meds, go back to bed, sleep 3-4 hours and repeat. It is finally getting a little better today. I have stayed awake for a few hours at this time. I am very short - this may play a part in it. Every movement hurts. The other people that had it with me are doing much better. Guess I am just lucky....! I am planning on going to work Wednesday - I hope I make it.

For people out there that had pain - how long did it last? Anything help - I have been using ice, pain meds, been walking. I have had Jello, broth, popsicles and a small amount of Protein shake. So far no issues with food. I have been going to the bathroom.... What else is there?

I have had two C-Sections plus my gallbladder removed. My C- Section were terrible and so was the recovery. The lapband recovery was a walk in the park :)

I was banded on Wed 28 Dec 2011 and I was comparing this surgery to my breast reduction surgery in 2007 and yep... The breast reduction surgery was by far the worst.
