Ladies I need some Advice on Female Issue.

I am getting the band on 10/12 and I just started my period today and was wondering if anyone out there knows if this will stop the surgery. I sure hope not, I have waited so long for this, and have been on my two week pre-op and everything. I have never had a regular perirod due to my PCOS, but it always seems to come at the most inconvient times. :( I guess I can thank that to losing 8.4 lbs in 2 weeks...I just don't know what to do and need some help. Thanks in advance!!!

Jess

You should be fine. I started mine the night before. Just let your nurse know.

I too have PCOS and very rarely have mine, I'm talking like maybe 3 times a year and even then it's only light spotting. Of course I started spotted a couple of days before surgery...NO it didn't stop my surgery!! You should be fine, like Amyrose said, tell the nurse but it shouldn't stop anything. Good luck on the 12th!!

I was told that if I am on my period on the surgery day to wear a pad NOT a tampon... That was it. Have a great surgery!!!

Kali216,

I am on the 12 th too! Where are you having your surgery?

At a surgery center in Hurst, TX. How about you?

Thanks for asking this question! I was wondering the same thing. I have PCOS as well and hadn't had a period in 10 months. My gyno gave me medicine to start it and I have been bleeding for 2 weeks, and no signs of stoping! Surgery isn't until the 26th, but I tend to start and stop and then start again. Good luck on your surgery :)
