My dr said 4 weeks. And then 8 weeks to do abs. But I started walking the day after surgery.

I started running about 3 weeks after surgery, if I remember right. Albeit, a slow run, lol, since I needed to get into shape. I was however, walking, immediately. The day after surgery I was out walking around and getting moving.

I was paranoid to do any ab work for a long long time. This irrational fear, more than likely, that my port was going to pop out. I don't think I did sit ups or crunches for a good 5-6 months after surgery.

My doctor just told me in 3 weeks I could do anything including working the abs and I am 2 weeks out from surgery, so 5 weeks is my magic number.

One week, cleared me when I went for my one week post-op appointment. said I could do anything, including sitting in the sauna and hot tub.

Only thing he said was "don't over do it with the weights"

I started the elliptical(with no arms), treadmill and bike 1 week post op. At 6 weeks, my dr cleared me for the entire gym, tomorrow will be 3 months since my surgery and I just added abs into my workout.
