Ive had 3 fills but I never know how many cc's Im at or anything. I was banded in September of 05 and so far Ive lost 32.5 pounds. It feels really slow to me. After my 2nd fill I thought I had good restriction and actually even threw up a couple times which scared me. But then I went ahead and got my third fill. I thought this would be it , but tomorrow it will be 3 weeks and Im not sure if Im at my sweet spot as others are talking about. I still feel hungry too soon after I eat. Ive also been bad on the weekends when we eat out I eat chips & salsa and have no problems with them. Thats my meal , but they go down fine. Does this sound like I need more restriction ? Im thinking I shouldn't be able to eat chips?! And yes I do know I shouldnt be eating them anyways. But thats my biggest weakness when we go out to eat is the chips & salsa !

Congratulations on the fill, Nykee! I hope it helps!

Erin, chips are one food that seem to be immune to the effects of the band. Just about every bandster I've ever met has remarked on how many chips they can get down, no matter what their restriction level is.

Just bear in mind that they are taking up room where nutrition should go. Once in a while chips and salsa make a great meal (ask me how I know :laugh ), but Protein should come first as often as possible. Maybe that's the problem. Try concentrating more on solid Proteins and I'll bet you'll find you don't really get hungry too fast after a meal. Chips don't do it.

Thank you I was thinking that Im just not using my band correctly and Im going to do everything I can to resist the temptations of chips & salsa. Im glad you answered my question on chips its funny that we don't feel restriction on those ! darn ! I don't think I get enough protein and that can be the problem. Can you give me examples of "solid proteins.?" I eat bolonga, tuna fish (no bread), Soups , salads , cut up apples, Protein shakes and those Protein Bars which is about all the variety that I eat during the week. I tried to eat boneless, skinless chicken and I got horrible stomach pain and threw it up...so Ive avoided chicken ever since. I was thinking maybe it was too dry or I ate it too fast? Tomorrow Im going to grill some salmon and see how that is.

By "solid protein" I basically mean meat and fish. If chicken is difficult, try chicken salad. Use sauces to moisten dry meat, , use better cuts, and cook it very carefully better cuts so it's not dry. Fish is often a better bet for bandsters, and it's what I get all the time at restaurants.

Cold cuts are my saving grace, as well, but go with better-quality stuff like ham, turkey, roast beef rather than bologna. Soup can be high in Protein, but check the label.

Just think meat/fish/beans first at every meal, and you'll up your protein intake quickly!
