September Bandsters

Ok July Bandsters was a great success and I was so thrilled to watch everyone's progress and immediate results that I thought we should start a thread for September Bandsters to share

I'm excited and yet apprehensive at the same time as I'm sure eveyrone has been. I start my presurgery diet next week (high Protein, low carb). I was only 37 BMI so they told me to hold off until I got approval! On September 7 is my preop. I also think that's the day I start the preop liquid diet?

Feel free to add yourself and we'll keep track together!

Awesome! I know you can do it!

I can't wait to get to the point that I'm energetic enough to start the real fitness journey again!

Made it to the gym. Got a hug and an "atta girl" from my trainer. He is so encouraging. Walked 0.75 mile at a speed of 2.1. Not very fast but it felt great to get back in the gym. Weighed myself on the more accurate scales and I have lost even more weight than I knew. 1 more lb and I am in the 200's. I haven't been there in over a year. That was the first goal I set for myself. Next goal is 270. Haven't weighed that since 1996.

Are you on all liquids. I am so lucky because my Dr. had me on soft foods 3 days postop and solids 5 days postop. I can drink 2 of the lemonaid and unflavored protein powder. But my Dr.wants me to get my protein intake through regular food. I drink one a day to help with my daily protein intake. Anyone that says weight loss surgery is the easy way out needs to be smacked upside the head.:D

The shakes i'm drinking is Nutra-Bio chocolate and vanilla. Haven tried the unflavored but need to get through those first cuz they are 5lb can!! The morning shake is fine for me because i'm usually not hungry in the mornings. The second and especially the third are what make me sick and gag........i'm sick of them and i'm hungry. I would do away with at least one of them and have something else instead but i'm afraid won't get the 60g protein a day that i'm supposed to have.

I hope everything goes great for you tomorrow!!!

I am scheduled for Thursday, the 29th.

Take Care!

does anyone know if sugar free diet slushes from sonic are ok to have? I am really craving a lime slush! or a cherry limeaid. Those are the only two things I've wanted for about 10 days now.

When you find the answer let us know cause I soooo want one of those!

Yes. liquids for 2 weeks post op. then mushies for 2 wks and then soft foods for 2 wks. after that, it's on to solids.

I found the Sonic nutritional information but it is a pdf file and I didn't know how to copy it here. Here's the link http://www.sonicdrivein.com/pdfs/menu/SonicNutritionGuide.pdf

Go to page 18 and it lists the limeades and such. Looks like the diet ones are fine. I didn't look at the regular

i asked my rn today and she said i could take a few sips of limeaid. I did and now it feels like I have a huge airbubble in my chest. I'm guessing the carbonation was too much, even though I only took 3 or 4 sips. So oh well, i might try to find a homemade recipe for cherry limeaids that don't include carbonation.

Since my surgery is set for 6am on Friday, that means that in about 3 days and some odd hours I will be in BandLand!!

Strangely enough, tomorrow is my last day of real food for about 5 weeks.

As sacred as I am about the whole thing, I am SO ready to get this thing started with!!!

Getting the band feels like a huge waiting game!

First the diet

Second insurance approval

Third surgery date

Fourth Healing

Fifth losing all the weight!

Baaaahhh!

I resent all this waiting!

Yet I'd do it all over again!! cool.gif

Tan-ya - I can't believe your doctor said pain and nausea rarely occurs. Last pain meds I took was last Friday - 10 days after surgery. I am still have tolerable pain in the center of my tummy just to the right of the larger incision. But I had a hernia repair too so it could come from that (from what I read from others who had hernias). Surely if you are having pain in the hospital your doctor will send a RX to the hospital pharmacy for you before you are released. Nausea happens from the pain meds cause your stomach is empty.

I would suggest going to Walmart and getting some Atkins Protein Drinks - ready made in box (4 pack) - the Vanilla is good. Put them in your fridge so their cold and ready to go. If you have a Sam's Club card they have Atkins in a 12 pack. It's worth having it when you feel bad and want something quick. Make some sugar free jello the night before surgery so it's ready for you too. I found this tiny little Dan-o-lino Dannon mini yogurts - about 2 oz sizes - all smooth. I mix crushed pills in them and follow with some water afterwards. Some of my meds taste really bad!! Be sure and buy something for constipation. I had Miralax from when I broke my back - it's a little pricier but it worked after 3 doses. You'll want to wait about a week after surgery if you don't go on your own. I have had to take it as long as I'm taking pain meds because they are constipating. I hope this helps?

Had my last visit with Doc before surgery and asked for a Rx to fill before surgery (( On Sept 30! 4 more days!! ))

but she told me that they didn't normally give Rx for pain or nausea since it rarely occurs.

That was just weird considering all of the posts on here about pain, nausea and gas.

Got some Gas X strips

Liquid Tylenol

witch hazel (for itchiness of stitches)

a pill crusher (for regular meds)

a pill split-er

and gummy vitamins!

need to get an ice tray to freeze soup/juice portions

and disposable shot glasses so my portions look like 2 oz instead of 1oz!

Congrats on getting to the gym! The 1st of the month I'm going back to 24 hr fitness. Just not ready yet - I am walking to the park, go to sit down for a few minutes and rest - then head back to the house. I am in a 2 story and am trying to do more stairs every day. Are you planning on going to the gym every day?

They are probably ok as long as there is NO carbonation like most sodas. Carbons will cause air and gas and probably not so good for that tiny little opening of the lap band.

Need2lose - you are on the same 2-2-2 plan I am on. I start on pureed foods on Wed or Thurs this week after my doctor's appt. Tomorrow is 2 weeks.

I had no idea the Limeades had carbonation. Learn something everyday.

If it bubbles, good chance it's carbonated. Sorry I've had so many posts - I'm only getting on here 1x a day now :)
