New here & excited!

Hi, just thought I'd drop in and say hi!

I'm a 33 yr old nurse, married with 2 kids ( 13 & 2). I'm at my all time heaviest, 277 lbs and it really does suck!

I used to be in the 140's after I married but after my 1st child I hovered at around 200-230; after I had my second, all hell broke loose and now I'm here!

I was diagnosed with diabetes Oct 2010, and at that time I weighed 278. I told my doctor to give me 6 mths to lose some weight but I just yo-yo'd a bit and stayed the same.

I have a large appetite during meals so I am hoping the lapband gives me that sense of fullness prior to eating too much.

I'm anticipating having my band placed the week of 6/20. Cigna has an exlusion on my plan, so I will be a self pay. I was told today that I can have it done next week if I wanted! That is way too soon!! I'll wait to digest all the info I can first and put in for vacation time.

So, that's my story and I'm sticking with it. ;) Hope to get to know you all well!

Hey! Welcome to LBT.

I haven't had mine done just waiting for my six months diet for the ins.

Its really awesome here. Lots of great info.

I'm lucky I have lots of time to research. <_<

Read as much as you can because I hear its tough afterwards. We have to do most of the work.

Best of luck to you and keep us posted. Before you know it, you will be at your surgery date.

Hi,

I know about that six month diet. I ended up having to do it twice because I didn't lose any weight the first time. My doctor had told me it was just a formality so I didn't worry about it. But when I was done, the surgeon's office said, "Oh no, insurance will not approve you like this." So off I went to do it the right way this time and I lost 41 pounds. I was at my all time high of 344. Now weigh 303 as of the 19th. I guess we will be doing this together. My date is July 12th and I'm so excited. Best of luck to you. We can all do it.
