Tomorrow, Tomorrow...

Tomorrow is the big day for me. May 4th, I will be banded. At times in this journey it felt like this day would never come, but here it is, just on the other side of the sun going down and coming back up again.

I am scared, I am optimistic, I am worried and I am hopeful.

It's been an interesting journey up until now and I can only hope that it gets better from here.

May 4th, here I come B)

Hi Amy, thanks for the encouraging words! i will keep my fingers crossed for you that your insurance comes through and that everything works out ok for you. I will update everyone when I am able to form cohesive thoughts B)

Welcome to all !

I had my surgery four days ago and every day feeling a little better. You are absolutely right, the worst pain is the GAS!!! So make sure you walk as soon as you are able to. This is my second band. I had one put in 8 years ago but recently discovered that it had slipped :(. So the doctor removed it and put in a new one. The surgery lasted 3 hours due to a lot of scare tissue. I am doing well and I am very optimistic that it will continue to work. I lost 90 lbs with the first one.

Best of luck to all!!!

Ayme

yes, choosing this surgery was a big decision. I had thought about it last May, but didn't go to a seminar until January. I cried on my way home from the seminar even...i was sooooo torn about what to do. Now, I am confident that this is the right decision for me and everyone in this forum has been a huge help in swaying me in the right direction, answering my questions and calming my fears. i can't say that I would have gone through with it if not for reading the wealth of information available to me here. that's just the honest truth.

My surgeon didn't fill out any paperwork to verify the necessity, my PCP had to do that. At the time i went to the seminar, I didn't even have a PCP, so i called the surgeon's office to get a reccomendation. They referred me to a PCP and she was more than happy to tell me how fat and near death I am ;) , so she wrote the letter telling the surgeon that he had her blessing. If your PCP is giving you a hard time, just tell them that you feel that you need this and you will find another MD who agrees, so please authorize it or you're going to move on. That's what I would do anyway.....I'm sure if you express yourself to your MD, they will eventually come around to your way of thinking.

anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Best wishes!

Hi all, it's me. My old account wouldn't allow me to log in for some reason, so I'm just going to post under this temporary one until the situation is rectified. I thought I would just give a basic update before I go back to bed. it's just after midnight here and I"m pretty exhausted.

So, the short answer is, I'm alive. :)

The longer answer is that I am in pain from one of the incisions. He went through my belly button and it literally didn't start hurting until about 1/2 way home from the hospital. I, so far, haven't had any of the gas pains that people have been talking about. Nothing yet in my shoulder or anywhere else. I can see that my belly is all swollen and I have been burping and burping and that has been a huge relief.

Anyway, I just wanted to say a very brief hello. I will post the longer, more interesting bits tomorrow.

Thanks guys for all of the information I have gleaned so far from this site. I felt like i was uber prepared for today and that really, really, really, helped a lot with the anxiety of it all. you guys are awesome. B)

That's exactly how I feel-as long as I wake up alive I can deal with anything! lol Maybethe gas pains will come later (perhaps you are still under some effects of the pain killers?) Did you have a single incision? I wish my surgeon did that type of incision. Hope you are feeling better!

:bananapartyhat: :Banane03: :Banane01: :Banane04: :Banane05: :Banane06: :Banane07: Congratulations!!!! So very happy for you . Cannot wait for my surgery it is a week from today ! Hope I make it through with minimal pain lol but am sure it is worth it in the end .

I hope your surgery went well and that you are on a good road to recovery. Take each day as it comes, I received my band on 4.12.11 and that is one thing I have learned - each day is a new day. Good luck to you!
