Port pain

Hi there. For those of you who haven't read my intro, I was banded on 1/20/2011. I realize it's only been 6 days, but my port HURTS. More so in the morning than the afternoon/evening, but WOW! I have a history of chronic pain and was taking Vicodin 2x/day before surgery. Now I'm just on the Roxicet liquid they sent me home with and my bottle is almost empty. I don't know if I should call my doctor or not. My first post op visit is on 2/3/11, which is a long way away. Did anyone else go thru this? I know that everyone is different, but when does the port stop hurting so much? Thanks.

Hi

I had surgery on Jan 5th so as of today I am 3 weeks post op and I would say my incisions stopped hurting when I was in my 2nd week. I had my staples removed on the 10th whiched helped alot, but there are times when I move a certain way or do certain exercises that it is still tender. I am able to sleep on my stomach with no pain at all. If you are in that much pain I would say to go buy some Adult Strength Liquid Tylenol and see if that helps you throughout the day.

Wishing You the Best

Alison
