  1. Hi there. For those of you who haven't read my intro, I was banded on 1/20/2011. I realize it's only been 6 days, but my port HURTS. More so in the morning than the afternoon/evening, but WOW! I have a history of chronic pain and was taking Vicodin 2x/day before surgery. Now I'm just on the Roxicet liquid they sent me home with and my bottle is almost empty. I don't know if I should call my doctor or not. My first post op visit is on 2/3/11, which is a long way away. Did anyone else go thru this? I know that everyone is different, but when does the port stop hurting so much? Thanks.
  2. I was banded on January 20th. The first few days are weird. Luckily I didn't have any problems getting the fluid down, but the gas pains were TERRIBLE! The best thing you can do is walk. It helps to move that gas bubble through your digestive system. It gets better. Every day. And I've found the pain is worse in the morning than later in the day, simply because I have to get up from a laying to a sitting/standing position and it feels like my port is pulling on my liver. Don't regret this. It's going to change your life. It's only been three days. You still have anesthesia in your system and your regret may be that talking to you. Take your pain medicine as ordered and keep going. You're worth it!!!
  3. Thanks, Mimi! I'm really glad to be here.
  4. Hi there. I'm Tina. I was Banded last Thursday. I've been wanting this done for years and was going to have it done almost 6 years ago, but then there were family issues to take care of, then with a change in jobs came a change in insurance, etc. Regardless, it's done now! I had it done at UPMC Magee in Pittsburgh by Dr. Courcoulas. She's amazing. Thank you for having this group. I'm very happy to have found it. I do have some questions, mostly about pain and pain medicine that I'm hoping someone can help me with.
