OptiFast

Hi,

I am going in for LapBand Surgery on the 27th and my Surgeon put me on the 2 week liquid diet, the problem is that the Optifast that he wants me to use is way too expensive, it will cost $251.00 plus tax for the 2 weeks, any suggestions? I am only in day 2 of this diet and am starving.

I was on the Optifast for my 2 week pre op back in November... its was $200 for 3 cases which was a little more than I needed. (5 shakes per day). Tell him he is overpriced!

On optifast now. $140 for the 2weeks. Don't think their gonna give you anything elese. Maybe get one week at a time. I suppose to do 5 a day but only been able to get down 3 a day so far. Started Wed. Surgery on 26.

I was put on Optifast for my 2 week preop. It gets better after about day 3. I did the shakes, bars, and soup that Optifast makes. I found that I was hardly ever hungry. What triggered hunger was when my husband made his dinner. The smell drove me a little crazy. I had to stay out of the kitchen when he cooked. I didn't do any of his cooking for those two weeks and also didn't cook anything after surgery for the first week and a half after. I'm in the mushie stage now and have done some cooking since I can eat too. Hang in there it will get better. And yes, it was very expensive.

Sound good to hear ITS GONNA GET BETTER.

Why do you have to have Optifast? Can't you pick out a nutritionally sound protein shake from anywhere? You should ask him, I bet Optifast is just his personal preference, the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver and the most obnoxiously expensive protein shake isn't the only way to do it!
