I am starting my 3rd day post op. I don't want to get bound up. Is it safe to take a colace pill. It's in a gel cap and I'm afraid of getting it stuck. Any ideas about this subject would be appreciated.

I don't know about the pill but my doctor gave me a perscription for liquid colace. Maybe they sell it over the counter?

I know this is TMI, but I haven't had a BM since TUESDAY. It's kinda freaking me out.

Check with your Dr. but I haven't had a problem swallowing any pills. The Dr sent me home with Panadol and Vit B tablets. I also have 2 cc's in my band.

And yes its not fun being bound up with a sore tummy. I wish I had taken something and still need to get something to make things easier and its nearly 3 weeks post op.

I took colace gel tabs fine 2 days after surgery. Go for it, they aren't that big and you shouldn't have any liquid in your band.

I am taking two of them. My doc wanted me to pop them but they are foul, so I swallow them. No problem so far. I also eat high protein, high fiber cereal, try to drink at least 48 oz of water with Benefiber. It's workin a lot better than it was the first month.
