I have a cold/cough

Yesterday I woke up with a cold. I've been sneezing and coughing. I called my surgeon today and asked is I could take any meds for that. She was out for the day and hopefully I'll get a call back tomorrow. Does anyone know if I can take OTC cold meds? I am no longer on any other post op pain meds. I'm scared that if I keep sneezing/coughing, my port will flip. Please tell me it wont!
