Sore and tender on left side

Hi all,

I read this post op regularly but have never posted. I had the band and a hernia repair almost three weeks ago and have doing great. On Wednesday, I started having sharp pains underneath and to the left of my large incision. I ignored it but everyday it gets worse especially in the evening. I have read that some people have post pains but is your port site a 3 inch mass? Has anyone ever experienced this pain before? Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

I'm almost 11 weeks post op and still have port pain from time to time. I've spoken to the PA at my surgeons office and she said that's fairly typical at this point but should lessen over time. If not, then he may have to relocate my port.

I recommend you talk to your surgeon or PA just to make sure the level of discomfort you're experiencing is normal. I'd hate to see you go on thinking it's typical at this stage of post op when you may have a problem that needs to be addressed.

Welcome to the forum!

If the pain is getting worse, give your surgeon a call. Is the area red or warm to the touch? Did you do something that might have tweaked a stitch?

You can feel the port under the skin, yes. We pay our surgeons large sums of money to take care of us, give him or her a call to be on the safe side.
