Bad Breath

Hi All,

I had my surgery last month and am now on the mushy food stage of the diet. Since the operation, I always have a nasty taste in my mouth and bad breath. I was hoping that this would subside when I moved to mushy foods but it has not improved.

Just wondering if this is this normal and will it improve?

Thanks

There is a chance it is being caused by Ketosis. Many bandsters experience this early on. It does go away. Just follow the rules and your body will adjust.

Bad breath (unless you had it before banding!) is a sign you are following your diet correctly. Our recommended diet is high protein, low carb - just like the Atkins diet...without the fat. Having done (and un-done) Atkins, the breath issue is a part of it.
