Insurance approval time frame?

I found out on Wednesday that my paperwork is finally being submitted!!! Yipee!!! I feel like I have been the one to keep calling the office, inquire on the status of the paperwork and such... and finally the day is here and it's been submitted.

I know that by law, they need to give the insurance company 30 days max, but my question is....realistically how long did it take for you to get approved from the insurance company, or denial from your company?

Thanks,

Anxious in TN

Cindy

Good deal!! I found out the papers my Dr was supposed to fax were put in my med file!! There they sat! I asked about it when I went this afternoon for an appt. Once he realized what happened he went into action. He wants me to see cardiologist for test to make sure everythings ok. I have appt for next week.

I worry that time is running out....insurance...deductable will end. They all say it'll be quick and get done tho.

That is my concern as well. I don't have any medical records from '06. My fingers will be crossed until I get word!

I was worried about the records but since I was just diagnosed with diabetes, high colestrol and I have asthma they did approve me yesterday. Finally, and scheduled me for next Tues. I can't wait.

My info was sent in on a Fri oct. 29th and I was approved by Nov. 3rd I can't wait. My operation has already been set for the 14th of Dec. I did not want to do my fast on Thanksgiving.

Do all insurances require medical records??

I think they do, they want to see that you have been overweight for at least 5 years, and this year does not count. But I was diagnosed with diabetes and high colestrol and I have asthma so that got me approved finally yesterday and they scheduled my surgery on the 16th. So excited!!! Good luck with yours:smile2:

Paperwork sent in Nov 1, approved Nov 8. United Health Care

I have the Anthem as well. How long did the whole process take you?

I found out I was approved on last Thursday. It only took 2 days to get the approval....being banded on 12/9!!
