Surgery was Friday. This was my day today:

I was able to run a couple of errands. I don't feel great and at times would get this pale-cold sweat feeling. I am only taking OTC pain meds now and last night I was able to sleep on my stomach (big relief).

The gas pain in my shoulder is all but gone. Now I have lots of bloating in my stomach - sternum area. My back is also sore (could be gas).

I went to a small Vietnamese restaurant today and ordered beef broth and unsweet tea. It was heavenly not to eat something out of a bottle or can (& have someone wait on me). I probably ate 1/4 cup of Soup and was full. My Protein shakes are making me dry heave right now. I think before surgery I would drink them very fast with a straw and now I have to drink them much slower. My gag reflex is in full force

Most of my pain right now is when I try to "burp". Not only is it an unproductive feeling but it hurts. Any comments?

One last thing...did I read something about not drinking with a straw?? Please comment...

All in all this big baby is doing fine.

XOXO-

hi! Im glad you posted - I'm 3 days out also and have the same issues as you....I'm not eating much, but still get the burping sensation. I hope that this will go away as my stomach becomes less irritated.

I'm also 3 days post-op. I've been burping quite a bit today, but it's helping relieve some of the gas pressure I've had. I'm feeling really good.

As for drinking from a straw, I don't know if it's just my doctor, but I was told not drink from a straw. I think it has to do with taking in air and making you gassy, but someone else told me it could actually stretch the stomach pouch. I was drinking from a sports bottle earlier today and I realized I was more gassy than I was yesterday, so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

The burping sensation will ease a bit in the days to come. When I was where you guys were it was very painful to burp, now it feels so good...lol The straw has to do with taking in air. On day 4 I drank iced tea with a straw and my stomach "blew up like a balloon." I was so miserable. I had to walk it off. I am not much ahead of you guys, but it does get better. I am still having energy issues. I did have alot of weakness and found out that my blood pressure was very low so my blood pressure meds were regulated. Some of that weakness is from being put to sleep and the meds that were used.

The burping sensation is the WORST!!! I am over 3 months out and I still get it from time to time... Its not all the time. The Dr told me it is kinda my "full" feeling and the food just has to pass through... I also found taking Zantac 75 or pepcid ac for the acid reflux really helps make that feeling go away. But after months i still get it ughhhhh

I am 5 days out and I have also experienced a lot of burping but I feel so much better when I do. I miss drinking from a straw but from what I am told the straw introduces extra air in your belly that can be very uncomfortable. So far all is well just need an energy boost and good nights sleep.< /p>

Hi All

I received my lapband on Friday last - 14 October in Ballarat, Victoria in Australia and have joined you on your journey. You sound like you are doing really well.

Still sore and burping like a sailor, can't open the old bowel though! Feel tired now and will have a snooze I think.

Any good recipes for the first couple of weeks out there from any blogger friends?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
