I want to go check out whether I have sleep apnea or not. I don't need a referral with my insurance company so if anyone has any recommendations that would be great.

(Especially those in the UHC network)

UT Southwestern Medical Center has a sleep clinic that I've seen (I work here) but I don't know anything about it. You could probably look it up at their site.

I went to Sleep Healers, they have offices in Richardson off of Coit. They also have an office in Farmer's Branch...I think.

I used Total sleep Diagnostics. They have offices is Flower Mound, Plano, and others that I can't remember. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea before I even heard of the band. My advice, if possible, is to have the test done at a sleep center and not a sleep center that is part of the hospital. I had to do two different nights due to doctors orders and the sleep center is a much more comfortable and relaxed setting than the hospital.

I have also been to Total Sleep Diagnostics as well, they have an office here in Mesquite. Dang...I have had too many sleep studies done.

So is it true that if you are diagnosed with sleep apnea, plus other co-morbidities, that you rinsurance will cover the lap band? My son has UHC, with a weightloss exclusion, but if he has sleep apnea........... Any insight would be helpful!!
