is spicy food a problem?

I ate some very spicy cheese several days ago, and for about 12 hours was burping it up (very hot in that direction too!). The next two days I couldn't eat anything at all without terrible reflux. So, 2 days on liquids and I'm feeling better now.

Has anyone else noticed a problem like that with spicy food? I'm wondering if it was a fluke or if I have to give up the spicy food altogether...

My nutritionist said that for some spicy foods and rich foods can be an issue. I'm not a huge fan of either so I've never had a problem. But, I'd say yes it can be a problem. Maybe try to eat less of it or take more of a break between eating it.

I can tell you that spicy food has not been a problem for me. In fact, I find that I like food more and more spicy than ever before.

Not that it matters in this discussion, but I was banded 12-3-08.

I think I am the odd one out here. I was banded May 4th of this year and was never a fan of spicy foods but I CRAVE it now. The hotter the better! I never used to eat red pepper on my pizza but I am addicted to it. I have not noticed any reflux yet but I have only had two fills so far. It may become an issue later though.

:(

I have absolutely no issues with spicy food, thankfully. I adore spicy foods!

I really love the spicy food, and think my band is a wee bit too tight. Maybe when I get a bit taken out I'll be able to revisit the spicy stuff!

Thanks for the answers :(

Hopefully that will do the trick. My band tightened up on me back in may and it was july before I had it slightly unfilled. HUGE difference! I was a much happier person for that!
