Decided not to get a fill today.

I was banded 3/5/10 and have had 3 fills - 7cc's in a 14cc band. Went in today and after speaking with the PA decided not to get a fill - wanted to share my reasoning with you all. I am steadily losing 2 pounds per week. I can eat 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food per meal and then feel comfortably full. I am not hungry between meals, and do not snack. I am able to get my protein in without having to use supplimental shakes. In other words, I am eating like a "normal" person for the first time in my life. I am currently not struggling, not getting stuck and not PBing. Yes - i can eat more then most, but right now, we both felt this is a good place for me. In the future, i will probably need more fills - when I reach a plateau, beging to struggle etc. So even though I am not at my "sweet spot" it sure is sweet to me!

But maybe this is your sweet spot. I did the same thing when I went for my first fill. My Dr. and I agreed that I was losing and comfortable. And it's nice that I can eat "normal" and lose weight and tolerate foods... especially the fruits and veggies I like. I told him that I can eat more than four ounces, and he said that's fine. I still need to eat and tighter is not better. With that said, a few weeks later, now I can't wait for my next appt. so I can get a fill. LOL.

This sounds just about where my band is for me. I can eat like a normal person and noone knows I have the band that I dont want knowing. I dont get stuck or PB or anything like that. Yes I can eat more then im suppose to but im losing the weight so to me this is my sweet spot.

Sounds like a sweet spot to me! I am not sure what is expected from a sweet spot, but you sure sound like it is there for you, now. Sure you might need a fill later on, but for right now, relax and enjoy it. I have only had 2 fills, the latest has lasted me for 5 months, now. And, I am actually might call the surgeon for a slight unfill. Good luck to you!!!

I was just where you are for a good, long while. It was great! I suddenly find myself stalled and am going to go in for a fill but while I was steadily losing there was no way I was going to give up eating fruits and vegetables and gulping water. It was the best of all worlds. Enjoy!
