PROTEIN - Shakes vs Solid Food

Can somebody tell me the advantage of drinking a Protein shake rather than eating real food that is high in protein (for those of us on solids)? It seems like a lot of people are doing this. Am I missing something?

I thought that real food will stay in the pouch and help us to feel full, while a shake will just slip right through.

I would love to hear the pros and cons.

Thanks!

my doc said to stop drinking my calories and to eat chunky food!!! he said I dont need protein shakes anymore!! i was a bit shocked as I am only one wk post op! he said there is more nutritional value from real food...beef, chicken, anything my little heart desires! I actually don't mind protein shakes and plan on using if I simply don't feel like eating a real meal but understand that I should choose chunky food vs liquid!!

guys i have been on 2 Protein shakes a day one in the morning and one after the gym , i work out 1 hour a day , jog for 20 mins lift weights then jog for another 20 mins , i have been doing this for a week now , but the results are really worrying , i am gaining weight !!!!!! i have added up 1.2 Kilos ! how come ? i feel really disappointed , should i stop the shakes ? , i also eat a can of tuna during the day !
