Did I make the right decision?

Hey all!

I was just banded on 4/2/10 and have been having some issues with the gas pain, of course, and lots of nausea. I know I'm not even through my first week yet, but I'm questioning whether I made the right decision about getting the band. I've been reading through the posts and other threads and hear how bad it's been for some and I'm wondering will there ever be a silver lining. A lot of this is just the nausea talking, but I just want to make sure that I didn't make the worst mistake of my life. Am I the only one to feel this way?

The gas pain will get better. Walk, Walk, Walk, It really does help. I was banded on 3/29 and now feeling better. With the nausea, just keep sipping fluids. Take it easy and it will get better. Also, make sure you follow all the doctors orders to ensure there are no complications.

It will be WONDERFUL!!! You have just been through a pretty stressful and traumatic operation so be kind on yourself and know that in just a few weeks you will be feeling as good as new, only now you will have a great tool that can help you control your eating. I will be honest there have been many times I have doubted myself and this journey but almost a year later and about 90lbs gone, I truly believe that this is different than every other time I have lost weight - this time I have a tool (other than will power) to help me keep it off. It is not a magic cure so please dont expect miracles, but it can help you do fabulous things for yourself. I wish you a lot of luck and a quick recovery - it is not half as bad as you expect - just think of how great you can feel in 12 months when your clothes are half the size :-)

Take a deep breath, you did the right thing. Once you recoup physically you'll see. You have set yourself on the road to regaining your health for yourself and all who love you !

I'm not going to lie the next 3 months are going to suck. You're going to question everything. Did I do the right thing, is this going to work for me, I don’t think I will ever get restriction let alone to my sweet spot. Trust me you WILL get there! You have to do the dirty work of banster hell. BUT once you get thru it…. Its divine on the other side!

I only questioned my first 3 days, gas pains and dont forget youve had alot of medications(poison) in your body. I think thats what makes you feel depressed. On the 2nd night I questioned Why I did this, On the 3rd day I felt so much better physically. Once you get over the first week or 2 and can eat a little more normally youll get your energy back and feel alot better. After feeling like that, looking back now I wouldnt hesitate to do it again. But recovery time is different for everyone and you too will be fine! Good luck and dont worry.

Honestly, what you're feeling is completely normal. I think all of us had that though at one time or another in the beginning! Give yourself some time to heal and get back to 'norma'--trust me, you will be very happy with your decision.

I asked myself for the first month if I did the right thing and believe me.....I DID :-)!

Congrats on being banded and hang in there! You will be very happy once you get past this initial phase!!
