Swelling/Band tightness

How long after surgery does it take for you to be "back to noraml" in a sense of as normal as we can be with being banded. I was just curious to see when all the swelling went down for you and when you felt yourself again.

Do we ever feel ourselves again after this surgery?

It took me about 2 weeks before I had an appetite. then everything tasted good. I am 5 weeks post op with no fill and don't feel restriction but I can't eat alot. Example before I could eat a whole turkey sandwich chips a pickle and then some. Today I can eat 1/2 sandwich no chips but a few strawberries sliced up and a piece of string cheese. It takes me about 1/2 hour and I am very satisfied. I hope this helps

I felt great about 5 days post-op, with the exception of a bit of tightness at my port incision.

I'm 15 days out today and eating mushies-- feel BETTER than before my surgery (15 pounds down). Took a long walk with my dog today, lifted (light) weights. Happy and energetic.:wink2:

Were you just banded?

Hi, I was banded on 2/18/10 and was feeling almost 100% better by 2/25/10 so it was just about a week. I had surgery on a Thursday and took the next week off from work but probably could have went back on about Wednesday but opted to return the following Monday. I do still have some stomach swelling 3 weeks post op now and my band feels tight for about 2 hours after I eat. The only thing that bothers me still is the 4 inch incision at my port site, wearing clothes that sit just below my port site causes my port to almost fold over my pants and I have a desk job so I try not to lean over my work so my port is not irritated.

:wink2:

Currently I feel better than I did before surgery. I lost 15 pounds on my pre-op diet, and 11 pounds since surgery.
