Nervous about surgery! Help!

I have a surgery date on March 22, 2010 to be banded. I am starting to become very nervous, although I was not nervous when I started this process. Is this normal? Does anyone have any tips to get me through the days until surgery? I start my liquid diet march 8, not looking forward to it either. Thanks for any advice, it will be appreciated!

Hello:)

I had my surgery 7 years ago and had no complications. I lost over 85 lb and I am still losing. My relationship with food has totally changed and I could have not done it without this tool. Have faith and stay positive. Just listen to your doctors and let them know what you are experiencing. Good luck and best wishes!

Hello again:)

You had mentioned you love your carbs. I personally have not been able to eat bread after my surgery. I does not go down:(

Hi,

I was banded last week and had many of the same fears as you. I kept myself busy and surrounded by family. The procedure was easy and it only took a few days to get back to myself. I am very happy with my decision. BTW, I was so nervous that even as the surgeon was putting me under, I asked her if she thought I was doing the right thing. Ha ha. I was that nervous.

Good Luck. March 22nd will be here before you know it!

Congrats on recently being banded! If you would, please keep me updated on your progress and any problems you run in to. Id like to learn all that I can before I have my surgery.

Don't be nervous, everything will be fine. Make sure you are ready to make a committed change to your eating habits. I use to love breads as well but now I physically can not eat them. (Restriction) Make sure you are willing to give up bread before you have the surgery. I love and I mean LOVE micro brew beer, but I made a commitment to myself before the surgery that I would never, ever have another beer. (I think the carbonation stretches the stomach out) You may have to make this bargain with bread.

You will need to do 3 things to be successful with your band.

1. Eat good quality food. 2. Eat small portions. 3. Excersise

The band only helps with #2. you have to commit to #1 & #3. Good luck.

Im scheduled for March 3rd. Im very nervous like everyone else, im sure. I love alot of foods( i tried indian food about 3 years ago and could eat it all day every day, i used to hate the smell of indian food)and when i doubt the surgery its usually because i think i will miss certain foods. I love to eat out alot, thats usually when i see my family but im willing to give up certain things(foods)if thats what it will take to remain healthy. Most people can still eat favorite foods after. And right now everything i do pretty much revolves around food. I keep thinking of how my life will change after i lose weight. More active lifestyle. More options for vacations. If i become more fit and active it will help my family stay fit and active. How can i lose? Look how happy lapbanders are when they lose weight and get to goal. I already have clothes picked out of Territory Ahead magazine for when im skinny, i would never wear them now. Sorry i could keep going on and on but ill end it here. Just get it over with and live a healthier, happier, longer life. Good luck to all.
