Need help with Protein shakes or additives

My doctor has given me a protein shake that is 345 calories and I am trying to watch my calories, does anyone else use something that is lower in calories. All ideas and suggestions welcomed. Thanks

Smoothie King offers a shake called the gladiator. It only has 180 calories, you can buy the powder - I sometimes add strawberries

Dang, that's a lot of calories...I don't have one in front of me, but I use the Atkins shakes, which have 15 g of Protein, and I think less than 200 calories. Very good, too.

I don't drink too many shakes any more, but I do get on them when I have a fill and do 2 days of liquids or when I feel like I have gotten off track and want to get back to eating the band-friendly way (which is where I am today!).

:)

Lean Body has a low carb shake that is 40 g of protein and is about 230 calories. It works for me.

Designer whey is 100 calories per scoop. With the shakes I make (adding 2 scoops, apples, bananas, strawberries and agave nectar and 1/2 of fage greek yogurt and 6oz of skim milk) it makes 44 oz (I split it up between the day or sip all day) and the whole thing is just under 500 calories. So if you divide that into 8oz servings (comes out to 5 and 1/2) that's just around 100 calories per serving.

Making your own and using fresh and natural ingredients is always best.

Sounds like a great recipe with the whey. How many grams of protein do you get with that?

54 grams of protein

I like Jay Robb Whey Protein powder from Whole Foods. 1 scoop is 110 calories w/ 25 grams of protein. At times I add a cup of skim milk and half a cut of strawberries, that takes me up to about 250 cals. But that works well for me, it's filling and I don't get bored w/ it. At 800 - 1000 calories a day, fits in well. Also EAS Carbadvantage is yummy and about 150 calories - these are premade shakes.

Best,

Lauren
