does anyone eat these? I was thinking the portion size is just about perfect, but wondered about the sodium, etc.

Does anyone do these and how does your band do with them?

Thanks!

Yep I eat a Smart Ones or a Lean Cuisine almost everyday for lunch! I asked my dr about them because I knew the sodium was high. He said they were fine, perfect portion size. I do pretty well with them, just chew ALOT! I don't try the flat breads or pizza ones..they for sure would be stuck. I do notice this time I have to heat them up twice, by the time I get half way through its already cold :)

I've bought them but haven't had them yet. I bought them in case I don't have a lunch prepared and need something to take to work (so I don't go out to eat).

I think if you make sure you are keeping up with your Water intake and make smart choices (like the Lean Cuisines) and not eat the Hungry Man dinners, you should be okay.

But, as always, you might want to ask your dietician or surgeon just to be on the safe side.

Hi Mom in Kansas! I was born and raised in Topeka and only moved down here to Florida a couple of years ago! So HI!

You know, funny thing is, I have become so concerned with sodium post band. If I eat things high in salt, it really does show on the scale in the form of Water retention. However, I know loads of bandsters who love TV dinners, and I think they are a great back up when you have nothing else. But, bc I have also become a FoodNetwork addict, I try to make things now instead of buying them frozen. I make my Tomato Soup, etc. and freeze them so I have them when I want to grab something quick!

I would just make sure to compare the Protein content and try to get the ones w/more Protein. Unfortunately, a lot of frozen meals don't have much protein since its cheaper for them to add more carbs than protein. I think my dietician said the South Beach ones tend to have more protein.

If you like vegie burgers and soy products, those are quick and tend to have a lot of protein. I like to have two vegie burgers for lunch w/a little cheese melted on top (no buns) and ketchup to dip it in. Each vegie burger is 15 grams of protein so between the two plus cheese, that's at least 35 grams of protein.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
